      ELECTRIC FAN

Can I just "definitely hook up an electric fan (use the stock e30 condensor fan wiring and fan itself, it cools it off just fine)"

      as M3fan4eve suggested earlier.

THIS QUESTION HAS NOW BEEN SOLVED

        WIRING HARNESS
Can someone please go into a bit more detail on what I need to do as this is the part that I am the most confused about.

I'm guessing that I use the E34 ECU because although an ECU can learn and alter feuling to cope, I dont think it could handle an engine swap of that size.
(I have done a swap from a 1.8 to a 2.5 on a Mazda and you needed the new ECU for it to cope)

        50.00 New Pins for harness?

I just need a bit more detail on this section please.

I HAVE NOW ESTABLISHED THAT IT IS OK TO USE E30 WIRING LOOM WITH E34 ECU

What did you mean when you said "New pins for harness"

He's including a lot of replacement / maintenance items in his list. You can in fact use the E34 cross member and tranny mounts, you might just need to modify the cross member with a big ass hammer. George's budget of $3900+ dollars is about $3500 more than I spent, and all that's left to do on mine is the driveshaft ($100 to shorten the front half) and exhaust (Im guessing maybe $200 in parts and beer for my buddy to do the welding).

Mind you though, the money you can save by not doing the maintanence stuff of George's list will end up being spent later on the same stuff... someday...

I literally did my swap by removing the 2.7 from my $250 E30, removing my already rebuilt M30 from my 6 series (the key to the savings is that it was already rebuilt ) and dropping it in with a set of e30.de mounts I got for $225 and an oil pan / pump combo I got for $75. I reused my 6 series wiring harness, coolant tank, radiator, coolant lines (they were all brand new about 2.5 years ago when i built my 6), etc. so my swap literally has cost me that much plus the cost of oil and coolant.

Edit: You can use the E34 harness, you might just have to do a bit of custom work to match all the correct functions of the harness to the fuse box. Some functions of either might not match anything (I have 3 or 4 wires from the fuse box that didn't go anywhere because my harness was OLD.) You will be using the E34 ECU.

            Which ECU did you use?
Did you have to extend some of the wires in the loom?
Does everything else work as normal?
Yes as was mentioned, the E34 ecu is what I used.
I didn't have to extend any wires, BUT the ecu now doesn't reach the mounting points in the E30's glovebox, its about 4" short, so I plan to lengthen the wires.
            Everything else works normally.

Exactly what I did. Works great.

Thanks mrk for clearing that up for me, its all starting to come together.

I didn't really want to swap the wiring loom, so its great to know that I can definately keep the E30 loom and everything will still work properly.
