I was thinking the same thing but there isn't anything left...well except the coolant sensor that is pictured..can't find the plug for it.

This is connected to a relay. Stupid question but do relays get straight power from the battery? The relay that this connects to is named "main" on the PO's piece of tape.

Are your alternator and starter hooked up?

Yep starter and alternator are hooked up.

Here is the bottom of that relay (shows the red as maybe a main power supply?). Its the one on the left relay (left in pic) and closest to the top of the pic

The second picture shows the brown coming out between 2 main wiring clusters

Coil is set up. These are on the drivers side of the car where there are a cluster of 3 relays with a cover over them. I am looking at wiring diagrams and I can't seem to find something that shows 1 large red wire and 1 small red wire coming together. I dont' have my aux fan hooked up yet, maybe this is where these could go?

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to add to it in case anyone else brings this up in a search.

Assuming this is a B34 then that is a crank sensor. However the only thing that sensor is used for on the B34 is for a BMW dealership diagnostic tool. If you trace the wire it goes back to the diagnostic port but doesn't go anywhere else. You can safely disconnect it. I actually just cut it off and removed the bracket entirely. Be careful though, on the B35 the sensor for the crank trigger wheel sits in exactly the same place and you definitely do need that one.

^^^ yep, he is correct cuz the B34 get's it's signal from the flywheel sensor and that is why later model 260's don't work on early b34s without mod as there is no opening for the sensor...

I'd say those 2 wires go to the starter
