I believe that's the turbo block from the 745.

Will a 260 hold less torque than the 265? Is there a weight difference? Do both support the same shifters?

There is no doubt that the 265 is a more robust transmission... It is also double the price, very hard to find, and you have to use an E30 M3 driveline. The 260 is very strong as it is... Hans and Franz designed it to hold up behind the M30 anyway, so you won't have any problems.

The weight difference is minimal, and the shifters are different (due to the different length of the trans) (you would need to use a shift linkage from an E30 M3).

At this point we are still working on the webstore storefront, so unfortunately all orders currently need to be over the phone or via forum/paypal...

and you're correct, the M106 is the 2nd generation turbo motor from the 745i :mrgreen:

how hard is it to remove the output shaft on the 260 to change it to the smaller flange?

and do you think having the smaller guibo is going to be any sort of a problem???

cause i'm having a hell of a time finding a big guibo 325e driveshaft...

It requires a special socket that cost $50. I hear you that finding an 87e driveshaft is a pita.

The 260 came in 2 different configurations, one for the M20 and one for the M30 :)

So what must you look for to distinguish which one you have? Are they subtle differences or major ones? Gear ratios the same?

Nice work with this discovery - having more options is always a good thing.

The bolt pattern is different, The M20 260 has a block width that is about an inch wider than the M30 block, so if you measure the distance between the two squared mounting points, that is a good determination.

Also, (depending on how intimate you are with these transmissions) the M30 uses the smaller bellhousing bolts, and the M20 transmissiong uses the larger bellhousing bolts

No we didn't price them individually...should be about $325 for smaller and $475 for the largers correct? If this is ok I can go get a money order for you and have it in the mail right after work tomorrow. Let me know if that's good and get me your adress. Or if you wanna wait till you have a set of the smaller duals too I can hold off and get $800 when you do.
