It's a very low profile puller.

Alrighty, last time we cranked the M30 before pulling out. Compression test:

    #1 - 120
    #2 - 120
    #3 - 130
    #4 - 130
    #5 - 125
    #6 - 125

Motor was dead cold and also had a weak battery (so weak crank start)

Have you started pulling the m20 yet? I think that a few pictures of the donor and your e30 would be nice

Also when I had the old m20b23 in my car I blew apart a few guibos - or maybe it was just my driving I dunno. Point is, I feel sorry for those little guibos that are going to be transmitting power from the m30 to the wheels...

      Those poor......Poor guibos:D

      Thats my opinion though.

I forgot to bring the camera to the shop today :p So no pictures. Started pulling the M30 out. Drained all the fluids, disconnected a bunch of stuff.

By the way.... I do not need the e28 engine harness AT ALL correct? Because I'm definately cutting everything to make things quicker. Doesnt seem like I'll have time to pull the motor out today, but should hopefully be out before tomorrow afternoon.

I know you can move the ds back and forth but mine is compressed all the way. with the exception for a mm to allow for the rear movement. and my radiator has about a 1/4 inch of space

By the way, for everyone wahhhing about the bigger guibo... will the spline of the rear e30 d/s not mate with the front piece of the e28? Because if it does, the problem is solved.

It fits perfect to the spline, but it is too long. ;)

As for the puller fan, unless its less than half an inch thick, its not going to work. This is the best pic I have of front clearance in mine (using Joe's mounts)

am i the only one that thinks using the e28 harness is faster and easier?

you know it ran the motor before so you dont have to trouble shoot

and like said the splines fit but the d/s wil be too long

i had a bigger problem trying to fit the distributor then the ps pulley. im trying to fit the e30 rad just so i dont have to cut the brackets off the body but that doesnt look like its happening

Thanks for that pic, it's really helpfull!
Now I know I can fit the front pulley for air conditioning, and my motor is further back than that. Cheers.
