On mine, it was the rubber gasket that hard tried out. I cleaned it out, reused the old rubber gasket and used silicone sealant for a perfect seal. Cheap and effective.
The rubber gasket is a poor solution. The plastic in the radiator side tank and over flow tank deteriorates and changes shape with age. Its just the nature of plastic. Even a brand new set of gaskets doesn't guarantee a perfect fit. The silicone fills in any gaps permanently. Mine is going on 2.5 years and 30k miles without a problem.
