That's a small speed bump for the hot air, not a heatshield.
But you're still not getting air in there...
Argh, never mind. You've never seen an E30 in a wind tunnel and I can't find my pictures of such to explain it to you. Bottom line, your filter is in a low pressure zone and all it's doing is sucking heat from the radiator, not from the headlight. If you piped it up from the brake duct you'd be getting somewhere.Leave a comment:

it there's really not that much space, and the extentions at autozone are like 25$ apiece, and for minimal gain if any, i didnt bother. When the hood is closed, its actually pretty snug, and stays cool in that area, even with the highbeam back in.Leave a comment:

I would put a pipe between AFM and filter and either move it closer to the grill, or enclose it with a full shield(about 5 inches taller). the radiator gets pretty warm, and you filter seems pretty exposed.Leave a comment:

i have a highbeam deleted, and it channels the cold air directly to the filter. and its a bad angle on top of that, there's only about 2inches of the filter on the backside exposed to engine heat.Leave a comment:
