I'm not really worried about the extra stroke of the M44, more about head design. Either engine would retain the stock crank, but get the max overbore and high comp pistons.
Does the M44 have a better head? I've noticed on Metric Mechanics' site, he has the 2.1L M44 making 10hp more then the 2.1L M42. So I'm assuming the base head is the difference.
Also anyone have any experience with VAC M42 heads? Or any other companies besides MM and VAC that do headwork?
