m44 has squirters for under the pistons and 1mm larger bore. Other than those two factors, are the blocks the same internally? Do they have the same coolant passages / ability? I'm thinking about getting an e36's m42 and just swapping the m44 block for the extra mm bore and the squirters to keep the pistons cool when I'm listening to the engine sing. Any reasons not to swap the bare block of an m44 in? I've done a lot of research, looking for cut aways now. ;)
If there are no other differences to the short blocks could I add the squirters to the m42 and proceed with boring? Either way 86.4mm bore on an m44 or m42 seems enticing considering stock piston swaps are a lot cheaper than aftermarket.
