mine used to do this but started missing under load and idle would drop..
i changed plugs and that helped a lot!

nice, lemme know! i just temporarily taped up the cracked areas until i can get my hoses in. but i still have a huge crack where the valve cover hose extends underneath the manifold....shits annoying!

Yes I can take a picture just added a hose to hook it up it goes under the throttle body and the icv goes in the boot! It should idle better!

I say re route the hoses clean your icv and see how it does

can you take a clearer pic of how you re routed your vac hoses??

im assuming your talking about the hose that goes from the top of the valve cover, to underneath the intake??

same issues that i had! on the freeway it died and same symptons if i would let the rpms drop to 2k it wouldnt accelerate and it would start to choke, check your fuel pump!, clean your icv, and re-route the hoses like i did! a temporary fix to check for vaccum leaks most likely is coming from this

this is the fuel pump i took out of my car...
    it looks sketchy!

m42 bogging out?! no vacuum leaks

    Hey guys,

So i recently purchased a 91 318i. The car has 236k but has been very well taken care of.

But to get to the point, the car started having very bad bogging issues lately. Its not sending a CEL code (1444....no fault) and i checked if there were any vacuum leaks with some carb cleaner, and i havent found the culprit to what is causing my m42 to run so shitty!!
The car will lose power and eventually die if the rpms arent kept above 2k (when im driving). if im at a stop, it idles fine. driving is when my car loses power.

any ideas??! the "mess under the intake" mod hasnt been done yet either...

Any help would be much appreciated!

Working...
