        OP, your cam gears are severely worn. You're in need of an engine timing system overhaul.

          i think you need to do a timing overhaul!!!
          i just sold some cam sprockets in super condition for 25 bucks shipped....
          mine has fresh timing components i spent 1300 i didnt do it myself ofcourse...

            @ Digital: Those numbers sound very reassuring.
            I am planning on doing this job myself, but with the added assistance of our family's old German Mechanic, who has had 60+ years experience with BMW/Benz back in the motherland. He's been helping me out over the phone with the current job, up to now.

                          his cam gears are definitely old and not worth doing timing and not replacing...mine were a little more pointy, i was always afraid of the chain skipping a tooth for some reason...

                          but a complete overhaul is a good thing to do...i bought all the parts for my car and parts were 580
