I'm looking for opinions/options/knowledge on a header-back exhaust for the M42. My current (stock) muffler is rusted through, and it's fucking loud. I can't downshift without people thinking I'm trying to race -- my folks hear me coming home from a mile away. Literally.
I live in a land of no smog, so I was hoping to get rid of the cats, mainly because they are fucked up beyond belief (Hit a big rock, skidplate deflected it and it raped my cat), but also to save a bit of weight -- but I realize it'll introduce more rasp into the exhaust note.
Does anyone have any experiences with an M42 running no cat? If so, do you have any suggestions on resonators, and muffler setups?
I planned on running 2.5" piping from the header back. If you could give me some suggestions on the resonator, and muffler to run, I would be greatly appreciative.
