A bargain at $9,000! :) I just read Febi Guibo's thread on m42club.com about getting the first MM engine. The videos on YouTube are impressive, as is this guy's workmanship.

just got my springs/retainers/guides from them. Sent them my cam gears for the single row chain too. VW lifters are in the mail and I'm dropping my 6mm valve stem head at the machine shop this week to swap out the guides, valve seat grind, port matching, etc. Prolly ordering some CatCams soon too ;)

bottom end should be done next month ;)

The valve guides/springs/retainers and single row chain was around $950. VAC quoted me $850 for the cams. Prolly gonna be 2-250 for the head work. Lifters were not the right size and I'm trying to source them elsewhere currently. MaxSil M44 pistons from bavarian recyclers were $400. Bottom end machining is gonna be around $600.

Could a six swap be cheaper? For sure, but my engine will be fresh and putting down close to stock M50 power with better MPGs. And for me the engine build is more fun.

I'm working with Kevin Johnson on getting the M44 crank scraper made up too. And I'm going to pick up some S50 ITBs on my deployment to Germany. Just need whodwho to finish the 88-pin Megasquirt board ;)

MM 9k motor...hmmm for that money i'd just buy a 2jz motor and swap that in my car, then have money left over to be spent on track days and tires...win

and bwawuz02, good choice, now just slap a turbo on it and get some real HP

ARP head studs came today, blunt got me the right VW lifters, and I returned the wrong lifters. Gotta find time to get down to the machine shop soon

I should be getting the template in the mail soon to make the final touches and send it back to them for production. If you check their site he already updated it to offer the M44 scraper as well: http://www.crank-scrapers.com/bmw_m42.html

i want to build an m42 so bad. my dream for awhile was to get a m47 crank, m44 rods and s52 pistons. build a head with oversized valves, vw lifters, catcams, port and polished, s50itbs, custom header and exhaust. with a custom tune. oh man that would be a screamer.

I'm confused as to why the OP posted a PDF from MM's website, as if it was something special.
