    Are 1991 318is and 1991 318ic Fuel Pumps interchangeable ?

    Can I use 1991 318is fuel pump on a 1991 318ic ?
I see that the housing is different but what about the pumps?

Check realoem.com there you can see if the part numbers are the same. go on that website then hit "archives" then you'll be able to see "E30". From there you can compare the part numbers.

I just checked, the part numbers are different, but the price is the same.
      Looks like it won't work.

      Thanks a lot.

you can always swap the pump within the housing.
generic type tre or walbro will work with very minor fabrication.

I was going to swap the pump that I have from a 91 318is, but it doesn't work. The part numbers are different.

These are interchangeable (same part number with a 1991 318ic vert):

          325e (1984-88, from September 1987) Coupe with M20 Engine (E30)

          325e (1985-88, from September 1987) Sedan with M20 Engine (E30)

          325i (1987-91, from September 1987) Coupe/Sedan with M20 Engine (E30)

bavauto lists the same pump for both. I can only imagine the line routing might be different. If you have the part on hand just pull it out and try it, only takes 5 min to pull a fuel pump on these cars.

            just cuz realoem doesn't show a cross-reference doesn't mean it won't work ;)

I already have it out. I tried to test fit it and the one from a 91 318is is shorter and doesn't fit good.

Update: Ok now I have the pump connected on early model fuel pump housing, which has two tubes on the top.
So one of the tube on the top will be left open. Will this cause any problem?

Ok guys.. I just tried it and it does not work.
I put the old fuel pump in and it worked but it's so loud.
