M42 randomly dies

I think i have it diagnosed but I just thought Id throw this up to keep my options open.

the daily shitbox randomly dies. Once earlier this week at idle in a parking lot it just decides to shut off. Tonight driving about 50mph I get a huge hiccup. Spark being cut for at least two seconds, it felt like aleast. Then back to normal. So I let the gas off coast for a bit then pop into neutral and bam... dies right there while coasting.


Cam sensor reads 1540ish OHMS
Crank sensor reads 604 OHMS

both cam and crank sensor wires are chewed up. the wire at the base of the crank sensor is pretty bad.

I think my crank sensor is randomly shitting out on me. After the car dies it itll start right back up. other times i get a hard start

Fuel pump is TRE and is brand new

my simple guess is the wires get hot or whatever grim you have around those exposed wires is causing a false reading causing the dme to think wtf is going on and cause the miss

I think this is right. I just swapped both cam and crank sensors out for known working ones... didnt stall out and I just got back from 20 mile freeway test.

Had the same problem on my m42 car and randomly have it on my m50 car now, still cannot pinpoint the issue.

This POS shit box has to carry me and an assortment of e30 parts to SD in less than two days. from driveway to driveway its a total of 521 miles. The best part: I am out of tows with AAA. Im a premier member and am only allowed 5 pr year. Ive used all five this fiscal year towing my Volvo that I recently sold to a kid down the street.
