Today was a short day, but I did get the firewall patched up, revshift mounts in the car, and the M42/G240 pilot bearing into the M44 crank after a bunch of grease packing to pop the old one out.

Engine is out. New engine is ready to go in. Gotta clean up the firewall from my Z3 rack install and degrease the engine bay first. More pics tomorrow.Leave a comment:

took a break and went for a drive to shingle springs

Pulled the lifters back out of the head so I could prime them properly. Putting them in a small twist top Tupperware, screwing on the lid, and squeezing the sealed container quickly filled all the lifters. I was shocked at how much oil it took, I had to take the lid off and top off the container about 5-6 times.

You're most welcome.
This build is pretty damn awesome, hope it goes really well for you! I'm swapping my M42 out for an alloy-block M52 2.5l in the coming months - not sure what I'll do with it but your build is getting me thinking...
If I were to keep the M42 I'd probably build it up and chuck in the lighter 140mm rods with some M52 B28 pistons for reduced weight and friction and increased compression - but then I'd need to get another E30 to put that in haha.Leave a comment:
