What m42 didn't come stock with the heater block?

When I got my car it was completely stock, and although I sold the m42 out of it, its seems that it was sort of unique. It seemed to have come from the factory without the heater block that connects to mess under the intake. Instead it just had a little circular quartersized plate that slid into slots on the bottom of the throttle body that coolant ran in and out of.

My car also doesn't have (and doesn't seem to ever have had) the vin plate on the drivers door or door jamb. According to an officer that inspected my car, if the car was imported or intended for the US it had to have that vin plate installed.

    It's a DS 1991 e30 318is.

I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on these peculiarities.

Does it have a VIN plate on the dash or on the cowl under the hood? If so what are the last 7 digits?

According to RealOEM M42s before 10/91 had the little heater plate on the bottomside of the TB, those after 10/91 had the large plate between the TB and intake manifold.

South African m42's did not have a TB heater, I believe.

                  What does TB stand for?
I only knew about the heater plate some M42 models (specially for the US market it seems) on the top of the engine next to the throttle valve.
Where is the other, what is TB...
