    Sprockets!

Hey so I'm not well versed in engine internals yet or what to look for.. I took these pictures about a month or so ago when I replaced my valve cover gasket.

I don't know what to look for really, can you guys give me some opinions on how things look in here? (Worn sprockets have very pointy teeth correct? So mine look OK?)

            What I can see :

Sprockets that are rounded, not pointed - good

Timing chain guide is not cracked or missing pieces - good

The came should have cleab, non scored lobes, but I can see them.

Well that is reassuring! So not bad for 221k miles? I have no clue if anything in here has ever been replaced but when I removed the old valve cover there was some sort of sealant under it which I guessed isn't stock so I'm guessing someone had at the very least removed it before..

Also Grant, clean, non-scored cam lobes, does this picture give you enough detail to see? (that's the most close-up shot I have)

That looks normal to me. sometimes on the cam lobes you can see what almost looks like age rings on a tree where the tip of the lobes have worn through the hardening. That is where it gets bad.
