    M42 Swap problem- No start

Swapped a M42 into a 325e, starter turns the motor over, there is DEFINITELY fuel coming out, and there is definitely spark. But it won't start, strange I know.

I checked all spark plugs by putting the plug against something and watching the spark happen, definitely does
and fuel comes out of the fuel intake line when it is off of the fuel rail

HOWEVER: There is no fuel coming OUT of the fuel rail, as in, when I pull the fuel return line and turn the motor over, no fuel comes out.

Any help on this? There is no firing at all.

Also, I'm not sure if I wired the coil packs correctly, is there a definite way that the coil pack harness plugs (not the spark plug wires) go to the coil pack assembly?

It could be that the fuel pressure regulator is jammed up. I have never seen it happen, but it may be possible. It seems like the only explanation for the fuel inlet spewing gas but none coming from the return. See about borrowing a known good rail to check.

Did you swap in an M42 fuel pump? The M42 uses a higher pressure fuel system than the M20 (3BAR vs 2.5BAR).

If you got the ignition could hired up wrong, that would also be an issue.

Nope it is the stock fuel pump from the M20, could it not be pushing enough pressure for the FPR to work?

Possibly, but it seems unlikely to do more than make the car run poorly. See if you can snag a known good fuel rail and test that out.

It came from my running wrecked car though so I know the M42 for sure is good, I'm going to pull the rail and see whats up

have you tried switching the fuel lines around for the lulz?

Ive made this mistake with every E30 motor I've put in an e30 M20,M50, S14. I ALWAYS put the lines on backwards -_-.

              Good point...always the obvious stuff!

On the M42 rail, the inlet is the end / bare pipe and the return is the middle / black pipe.
