Battery keeps dying after I park after decently long drive.

Hey everyone, I have an issue with my charging system I believe.

I have gone through two batteries already which each one lasting me about 3 weeks (first one I thought it was a battery issue) and I drive it everyday.

So last night after going to class I drove 15 miles to get home and turned off my car, I wanted to repark my car and the car does not have any juice to crank to a start. I am suspecting it is the alternator but what I don't get is that if it was the alternator it would cut out while driving if the battery was dead. This is the second occurrence this has happened after a long drive.

There are no lights inside that are on and all my interior lights are LEDs.

Does anyone have an idea or suggestion. I am going to have the alternator tested today to find out if that is the issue. I just hope it isn't a parasitic drain on my battery that is hard to find. Thanks if you can help!

When you turn the key to On but don't start the car does the Battery light in the cluster light up with all the other lights. If this bulb is bad the alternator will not know to charge the battery. The bulb essentially acts like a switch and if its blown the charge circuit is not activated.

Oh ok, I'll check it ASAP. Got the alternator tested and it's fine. I'll check what you said next!

Edit: checked the light, it lights up in auxiliary mode. Found that the ground wire bolt that goes into the alternator was loose and that the threads in the alternator ground hole is stripped. Tomorrow I am going to rethread it.

Could it be bad grounding wire? I need to replace them since they are old and cracking.

Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

There's a guy (Greg///M) on here who makes and sells ground cables. Look in the Parts for Sale section.

thanks you guys! I actually found out it to be a bad alternator. The brushes inside have gone bad and so it being my daily I just ordered a new one from BMA. I will be replacing the ground wires as well. Thanks you guys for the input though!

The ground cable get very worn out cause of the heat of the engine. Happened to me aswell.
