I don't bother tracking my city mileage... gridlock = like, 2 miles to the gallon...
on the highway, if I drive 60-65 I get around 31-32, maybe 28-29 mpg doing around 80.

Only mods are 3.73 larger diff with redline fluid and k&n dropin.

Road and Track was asked that question a few months ago and concluded that WOT during acceleration was the most efficient.Originally posted by christophbmwAlso one note, i dont want to blow smoke up anybodys skirt but i believe an internal cumbustion engine is most effeicient at its peak horsepower, so while accelerating wouldnt it be more fuel effiecient to floor it everytime you accelerate? it hasent been proven yet......what are your guy's thoughts?

Temp outside effecting mileage, now that it is warming up here in Kansas, I have notice that on warm days I can get 30-31mpg, on a tank but on cool days I only get 27-28mpg, seems strange, but it is very true. Car original from CA, could this have anything to do with it?E30 325ix 62kComment

Yea that triple 4 is what's killing your mileage I bet. I have a 4.10 and highway cruising at 80 I get about 27. Pretty much the same city driving. Maybe a little more if I'm cool on the gas pedal.DENY IGNORANCE!

I don't really mind though. I spend about 150 a month on gas. Not super bad compared to other bills. That's pretty good mileage. I average about 75 freeway speeds. My speedo is off by 3% also which could effect my calculations. So in actuality i probably am getting more.Comment

at my best point I was clearing 410 miles to one tank all freeway. I could make it from east San Diego to St george Utah in one run. lol

I need to see how much I can get out of a tank. I always end up putting in a half tank whenever I get gas and that gets me between 170-200 miles city/highway.DENY IGNORANCE!
