fuel pump noise?

the fuel pump on my car is very loud and i was wondering if this is normal. i just put the motor in the car and this is my first time driving an m42 car.

You shouldn't be able to hear it over the engine I would say. A loud pump is indication that it is going out.

Or that the fuel filter needs to be changed.

im changing the fuel filter tonight. hopefully that fixes it. does anyone know which relay is the fuel pump relay?

Fuse 11 is the fuel pump I do believe

Agreed! A loud pump is one that is having to work too hard (clogged filter or obstructed fuel lines) or a dying pump. But do check the tank for rust as a rusty tank will kill a new pump pretty quickly.

when it does go out get a TRE pump. there cheap and they are fkin awesome

the TRE unit installs just like the OEM bosch style does. it comes with a harness adapter and all you have to do is splice in two wires, a hot and a ground. its cake, and the pump comes with connectors you need
