    M44 crankshaft user on R3V?

    Hi people.
I Own a 318is e30 M42 powered and I have a project of building a little engine more powerfull, don't want to swap, as I want to build my own engine, for fun.

so i was going to put euro M3 3l euro pistons (86mm diameter) with stock crank, which will give me about 1881cc of displacement.
But finding a good priced M42 is not easy (living in france) and I came across a really good deal with an M44b19 engine so the plans are to use M3 3.2l euro pistons (86,4mm diameter) and have a total displacement of 1950cc thanks to the 83,5mm stroke of the M44 crank (81mm for the M42 one)

but my main question is if there is people with experience with those crank.
People desprice them for being cast and only having 4 counterweight but is it really a problem for an N/A engine that will not rev past 7200rpm?
Crank will be balance of course, to avoid vibrations issues.

so if you know what i'm alking about and have some ideas about it, feel free to post your tought ;)
    thanks guys

m44 crank is as good as m42. For the information i'm building an m42 turbo with m40b18 crank whitch isn't forged, only because they are cheap and in good shape, i came across 3 m42 cranks but they where crap. For the tip use m41 tds crank bearing they are stronger and have 360 degree thrust bearing it's P&P in m42 and should be in m44.

    cheers ;)

you might consider an m47 crank. they are somewhat hard to come by tho. Otherwise consider running the stock crank and going for lighter valve train and timing components. I cant find a reason why the stock crank would be an issue for this build.

        Hi thx for the reply.

Good infos for the bearing thanks :D
as per the M47 crank, I actually have one but i don't want to do an engine with stroke>bore also with going with crazy R/L ratio, and using the M44 crank will be cheaper in manufacturing, just need to find the right pistons :)
