    M42 motor mount options

I'm in the market for motor mounts. Mainly looking for oem or oem styled mounts. Any suggestions or experiences with non oem mounts? I've been seeing brands such as Hamburg Technic, DEA and such..

I know that original M42 mounts are like hydraulic mounts and they are expensive but worth it, about $80-$100 each mount!
If I had to get motor mounts for my m42 i'd get the oem hydraulic ones, but I would make sure mine are worn out and done. I personally would not look for other mounts if they are not hydraulics.

Yeah, go with stock. There are cheap solid rubber options (from other cars) but they just make the whole car vibrate.

I've got e28 mounts and the increased vibration maybe 5%. Not very noticeable at all.

What's the benefit of the E28 mounts? Are they hydraulic also?

You didn't specify what you're using the car for, but if it's a track car, Condor Speed Shop makes UHMV solid mounts. Some vibration, but I find it fairly tolerable even on the 2-hour drives to the track.

How about the poly mounts on an m42?

Never knew that. Good to know. Thank you!

From what kind of e28? Is it a direct bolt on?

It's going to be on my daily. Just want it smooth. I dislike solid mounts. Everything rattles.

Yeah, looking more into OEM type mounts. I think poly mounts would still be rattly and have more vibration.

BTW, my car doesn't vibrate or move much. I just find it odd that the headers sit on the swaybar. I jacked it up from the header and the whole motor just tipped up.

series88, if you want a smooth ride and no additional rattles, stay stock. I ran E28 535is mounts for 5-6 years, solely because I was a broke-ass college kid, and I was soooooo happy when I finally had a job and put nice stock ones in. It felt like I was driving butter.

Put it like this. Anything other than the stock m42 engine mounts would be a downgrade.

I wouldn't go with poly mounts. I have heard that that they don't with stand heat very well, causing them to fail in only a couple of years.

ugh. Why are m42 mounts just so expensive..:( this car has been a money pit. Owned it about 2 years. Gone through a whole motor, transmission, top, interior, suspension parts and a lot of body parts. oh well. The pains of a project

Thats what i heard. Plus since they aren't through and through, the bolt ends up snapping out of the mount
