    Lower timing cover gasket

I am replacing all the lower gaskets on my engine before dropping it into the car. The gasket set came with two gaskets for the lower timing cover (between the inner cover and block), one metal and one paper. Are both supposed to be used?

    Thanks!

The M42 in the E36 got the metal one starting in model year '94. Previous to that they (and the E30) had the paper one. The later model inner cover was different also so I would use the paper one. Whatever gasket set you got probably just covered both.
