So we have a 91 318is which we have stripped down for track racing. Current weight of car is approximatley 1900 lbs. Engine has 190k (clean like new inside), Compression tested at 190 psi across the board. Engine mods include a basic cone air filter and 7lb JB racing flywheel, We do have lighter than stock wheels and tires on the car as well. The exhaust is straight piped all the way back with a 1 foot long round muffler at the very end. Took it for a dyno run today to get a baseline for future mods and was surprised by the results. It maxed out at 140.9 HP and slightly over 140 Ft Lbs of torque. The numbers almost seem unrealistic to me, but what do you guys think? From what I've read advertised stock horsepower on this series M42 was 138 HP (not sure if that is measured at rear wheels or crank) What do you think? Thanks in advance for any input

A dyno is a tuning tool.
I've beaten cars on the highway who claim much higher numbers than me even at similair weight.
The only people I can compare numbers with are the ones who were measured and tuned on the same dyno at the same shop.
Even then I'm not sure if that could still be proper because the operator kept the vehicle weight setting at 3000 tuning my car and an e36. Any one if that matters?
