    Building M42 for boost

Building the motor up to with stand boost, target is roughly 300 whp. I want to over build the engine and am looking for opinions and suggestions as well as experiences with parts and pieces.

M50 non vanos rods and stock pistons will work for that. ARP head bolts is a good idea as well.

300 RW is well over 2x stock- that'll take quite a lot of boost...

          running what fuel?

stock rods, stock crank, lower cr pistons. put the rest of the money in the head, ms, and turbo. 300hp is reachable.

With M50 non vanos rods you will get lower cr, they are 5mm shorter than stock :)
I built one for a friend.

MS was in my plans as well as lower cr pistons and mls head gasket. Put the money into the head as in port and polish? I've read also that some ppl use the vw rockers and upgraded springs...thoughts? Valve suggestions? Looking into cat cams as well

You dont need to touch the head for 300whp. Stock head gasket and ARP is enogh.
