    Fixed. Idle issue

    Hey R3v,

Just replaced my intake boot because the old one had a hole and was covered up with tape from the previous owner. The car previously idled perfectly at about 800 with no issues.

I was checking around the other spots around the intake boot and removed what I believe is the sensor for the idle. Shown in the picture below

I replaced the boot properly and plugged in all the hoses where they go. Well now when I turn the car on it starts right up but very quickly the Rpms drop and the car dies out. Check engine light also went on. I shouldn't have removed that sensor but too late now.

Does anyone know how I can solve this issue? I'm guessing I have to adjust the idle but I dont know how.

I had this problem with a nissan I used to have and I just had to do a Series of pushing in the gas pedal and the problem went away. I don't know if it's the same with an E30.

    Someone please help!!

    Thanks guys.

    NOOB ALERT:

I am almost ashamed to post this but I found the problem. New intake boot didn't come with a plug for the hole under the boot. So too much air was entering in and causing the car to stall.

I Removed the plug for old boot to new boot. Problem solved.

Well, I guess that's how you learn! Won't make that mistake again. LOL

Ha, yeah many M42'ers have had that one happen to them. At least it's a simple fix!
