COP boot deos not fit, help

I swapped an M42 into my 76 2002. Have been reading on the COP kit and got all the stuff together. Issue is when I put the cop on the plug, it does not "click" into the spark plug like the wire does, and I ush it as far down as it goes. That tells me that there is not a solid connection between the cop and the plug. I got the right coils but the boot seems to be either short or thick so that it does not fit right

    What am I missing?

Could this be an issue of the spark plugs not including the "nut" that spins onto the threaded electrode?
Some spark plugs have this absent, and you won't get a good fit with the spark plug wire.

The boot does not snap onto the plug like it does on the coil. If you look in the end you will see that there is just a conical coiled spring. That spring makes contact with the plug terminal. If you are really concerned, use some needle nosed pliers to stretch the spring a little, but don't pull too hard.

Yeah, the coil boot doesn't snap on, it just presses down on the top of the plug. If you just set the coil in place, there should be a slight gap between the coil and the mounting plate. When you tighten the bolts down, it presses the coil father down and puts pressure on the plug.
