Valve Cover bolt size for Heli-Coil inserts

What is the correct size for an Heli-Coil for the valve cover bolts on a 1991 M42 engine. I have a bolt hole that is stripped that needs to be drilled out.

Heli coil size OD and ID
    drill bit size

Yes I did do a search, but no sizes were listed. M6 X 1.0 was used on a stud kit, is this the correct size?

Did you check RealOEM? You should be able to match bolt size to helicoil kit.

      M6 x 1 is correct. Here's a link on how to repair http://bmw.e30tuner.com/articles_vchc.php

            Yeah, buy a pc. ;-)

But seriously, installing a helicoil is straight forward and simple. The kit will come with the correct size drill and tap and a tool to thread the helicoil in, along with a punch to break off the little installation tab in the helicoil.

Wat? Can you explain this a little more? Is it a browser issue, or is your ISP blocking the e30tuner domain?

Sorry to hijack, but I try to make sure that my site doesn't have issues with any other platforms and that sort of thing.

I can see it on my macbook pro. Yea using helicoils is straightforward. Most important thing is starting the threads for the helicoil insert. Making sure you start it straight and applying enough pressure so you dont strip the threads you just started.

Yea you look up the OEM bolt size and match that to the helicoil kit.

It's working now, but I don't remember what I did to get it going. Maybe a pop up option?

                  Very Nice write up…. Thanks
