    Spark wire question

    Hi guys,

So my e30 has been misfiring, took it to a shop and it was a leaky valve cover gasket that leaked oil into the spark plugs fouling them out.

Going to replace the gasket, spark plugs and the wires this weekend but was told by Pelican Parts that the wires are back ordered and need to be shipped from Germany.

Is it okay for me to run the fouled out spark wires until the new wires get here? The wires won't get here for another 3-8 weeks....

If your plug wires are failing, then you will continually misfire. You can try cleaning your plug ends real well with brake cleaner until they can be replaced.

Usually plug wires are not fouled out, they are just dirty, or the silicone insulation cracks and the high voltage spikes to a grounded piece of metal in the engine bay, resulting in misfire.
