    Oil Pan Baffle M42?

Does the M42 have an oil pan baffle? If not does anyone make one for it? Put one in my '89 M3 right when got it, one of those highly recommended things. Just want to make sure with the M42 also. Thanks for the help.

No baffle that I've seen, nor can I recall an aftermarket solution.

The Chump car (engine has ~110 track hours) has never had oiling issues that we have seen, or exhibited any signs of top end starvation. So I doubt it's a big concern unless you're drifting, which you aren't in an M42.

I'm going to be drifting in my m42...

But yeah no baffle in the lower pan, People have made them though. I need to get my spare pan so I can play with making a baffle for it. It really shouldn't be be too hard to fabricate.

It has been brought up before a quick google search of "m42 oil pan baffle" brings me here:

I like the design of that one, it's simple.

No drifting but will be on track doing some schools and didn't want to cause problems that could be prevented. Good to know about your track one with no problems. Thanks for the help and info.

I looked at the pic of the one in the thread and looks interesting. Made a copy of the design and may try something like that if start having any problems(hope not though). Thanks for the help and info.

That looks super easy to make, but how well would the bolt holes on the side of the pan seal?

forget the bolts just tig it in there. What you want is hinged flaps that open and close to control the oil movement during hard cornering. So instead of the half moon baffles at the bottom hinge in a little rectangle door thing. gangster and cheap to make. You wanna have it setup so the baffles are around the pickup. It might be better to have one offset near the middle and make the hinge move 180 degrees since the pickup is not in the center of the pan

^^ That's the design of a greddy oil pan for an sr20 isn't it? Those things hold a ton of oil as well if I recall correctly on my friends 240. It's an awesome design I have to say, I would like to make a similar oil pan for my car and widen it as well, but my tig welding skills aren't that great yet.
