    Hey guys i have a 1989 318is euro car with the m42 and im getting code 43, my problem is a bought the peake reseach code reader then found out it does not read euro cars, so i need some help if all possible.

    2Nd note when i look up trouble code 1243 is the pulse generator code the peake gives me 2 numbers 43 do i assume that all codes start with 12? Someone must know this

      Yes, except code 1444 which means no faults.

          So when i put the reader on first it comes up Fc then i press go and i get FF then press go again and i get 43

            Download the charts from the Peake Research site. It doesn't list an '89 318is but for the '91 318is there is no code 43. Are you sure the 2nd number is a "3" and not a "E"? 4E is for coolant temp sensor.
