        Thanks. For some reason, my mechanic thought it looked aftermarket and I had nothing to compare it to.
        Now: 1991 318is Diamond Schwartz ;)

            It's because the M42 exhaust is so nice that it almost looks like it couldn't be stock, most cars have lame boring exhaust manifolds but our car has a M tech developed header. If you look into buying a performance header you will find the only one is on ebay and it looks very similar to the stock header. My reason for not buying the ebay header was the fact it cost less than 50 dollars

              If you are going to upgrade your m42 exhaust then get a long tube header and bolt it up to a good catback....

                  Very hard to improve on...

                  The only reason to switch to longer runners would be if you went to ITBs and a whole lot of other shit.
