Oil leak from chain tensioner cover

I'm getting a small, steady oil leak from my timing chain tensioner cover on the head. No, it doesn't need to be tightened any more (I think it may have been over-tightened a bit earlier in its life). Is there anything I can do to stop the leak? I've thought about using a bunch of teflon plumbing tape on the threads.

The joker who owned my car before me stripped out the oil pan and the valve cover, i plan on buying a bunch of helacoils and fixing it that way. At least thats how ill do the valve cover. I'm gonna swap the oil pan.

Anyone have any suggestions regarding my original post.

Do you not have google or you just don't know what helacoil is?

I'm not helacoiling it. It's like 20mm and pretty shallow. Plus I'd have to pull the engine to get a proper angle on it.

You can always pull the cover, buy a new gasket and some permatex or similar liquid sealer. That has fixed almost all of my leaks so far, because the paper gaskets sometimes don't work 100%.

              Paper gasket?

I've ordered a new washer/gasket for it... hopefully that does the trick.
