I'm getting a small, steady oil leak from my timing chain tensioner cover on the head. No, it doesn't need to be tightened any more (I think it may have been over-tightened a bit earlier in its life). Is there anything I can do to stop the leak? I've thought about using a bunch of teflon plumbing tape on the threads.

The joker who owned my car before me stripped out the oil pan and the valve cover, i plan on buying a bunch of helacoils and fixing it that way. At least thats how ill do the valve cover. I'm gonna swap the oil pan.

You can always pull the cover, buy a new gasket and some permatex or similar liquid sealer. That has fixed almost all of my leaks so far, because the paper gaskets sometimes don't work 100%.Comment
