Turbo m42??? I'm sure it been dicussed & done

Well, I'm really "ALL SET" on reading through a million threads pulled up by the "search". Any how I've been itching to pull the m42 from my vert in favor of a M-S/5X BUT since company's like 666 have manifolds etc for the m42 I'm kinnda considering keeping the m42. Whats the latest updates on this setup?? Should I do it?? Whats kind of HP can come from a mild built&boosted m42??????

M42 right out of the box doesn't take too well to boost. It does require extensive modifications to work really well.

I think the intake and exhaust manifold alone from 666 is like $2000. Its not going to be cheap.

Just an estimate, but the stuff he mentioned should be $11-$12k for everything.

(let's see how close I am)...

                          Motor-- $7k
                          Manifolds-- $2k
                          Turbo-- $750
                          Standalone-- $500
                          Gearbox-- $500
                          Clutch/pp/flywheel-- $1k

                          Adds up fast..

If I look back at the receipts, its closer to 20K.

$5k for the manifolds, w/a intercooler, exhaust, downpipe
$9K for the engine, zf transmission, shortened driveshaft, some other pieces
$5K for GT2871 Dual Ball Bearing Turbo, Link G2 Standalone, Tial 38mm Wastegate, Injectors, Installation and tuning, other stuff

Add another $1K for good measure for other various expenses parts that were needed. Plus the suspension w/ coilovers and 5-lug stuff is easily another $4K.

The car has $25K into it easily and yes the costs add up quick!

To add to that, the car is getting the motor yanked this weekend. The dreaded milkshake oil showed itself, and after a compression test cylinder #4 was down on compression due to a blown headgasket.

                              HTH,
