EDIT: Turns out it was just really stiff going into 1st and 2nd gear initially.
It did go in with the engine running and clutch pressed.
Still feels like it will need to break in a bit, but all the gears work!

Noticed when I finally got the chassis mount shifter in my car, that I can't select 1st and 2nd gear on the ZF320.
All the gears worked when in the donor chassis (engine and trans came from an E36 vert which I drove to confirm drivetrain was good).
Thought it might be because the clutch system was dry and thus I couldn't press the clutch pedal.
Just bled my clutch today, and decided to try and row the gears of the trans. Still no 1st and 2nd gear.
I can feel reverse, 3rd, 4th and 5th engage.
There is still some hope as I tried to select the gears with the engine off. Maybe having the engine running and trans gears spin will help free things up. Need to get the cooling system installed before I play with that.
Could I have messed something up with the detent kit install to make 1st and 2nd un-selectable?
It was my first time doing the detent repair.
I can feel where they should be, but the shifter won't go forward or aft into the gears.
Any thoughts? Things I should check before considering dropping the trans?
