    G260 trans mount fingers

    I dont have any pictures (can totally post some later if needed) but on one arm of my trans BOTH fingers have broken off where the mount would go, not as one piece but each individually. Not really ideal, but the trans for my manual swap is in the car (finally). A couple ways I can think of fixing this would be

    1) Finding someone who can aluminum weld and either bring the car/trans to them or get them to come to me to fix it. (ideal, but $$$, I am already over what I wanted to spend for this swap)

    2) Leaving it

    3) grind a little bit further into the transmission and turn the flat spot into fingers, and just run the mount a little closer to the body of the transmission

    4) JB weld fingers back into place and drill out both ends of the broken spot and run a rod in for some extra strength.


    yes, it did happen because i didnt have the trans supported properly on the jack and it slipped off. yes, I am a big dumb dumb

    Any advice?

    It happened to me as well. I took it to my fabricator who made aluminum fingers to weld back on. It's worked perfectly ever since. It was easy work for him and I think I paid like $60 so hopefully you can find someone locally as well.

      Yeah, deep down I know that this is really the only long term way to fix this, Ive called some local shops and theyre either not willing to work on it or they want a minimum shop hour (at least $140 in my area, Bellevue WA). If anyone knows a good shop/can weld aluminum HMU

        Just got quoted $2500 by a mobile welder. HA! Said that was his minimum for a home call and I would need to sign a no liability waiver. For $2500 I could buy 2 or 3 new transmissions

          Yeah, I've found that most shops won't want to do it because of liability. My fabricator friend does this sort of thing all day long. Charge pipes, exhaust, cages, etc. Gotta find the right guy.
