    Drive shaft vibration/ Oil leak

    HI,
I have a 1986 E30. I bought the car very cheap because it had a lot of little problems. One big problem I am having is with the driveshaft. When I bought the car the drive shaft did not have a guibo left. The guy was driving it on 3 bolts holding the driveshaft on by the heat deflector.

I got a new guibo and put in on the car but I have a vibration that increase with speed. There is no noise when I back the car out of the garage.

I found another driveshaft at a junk yard that was in better shape than the original one and put in on the car. However, there is still the same vibration. I can't get the car over 30 mph with all of the rear noise.

I also have an oil leak that is not from the head casket. However it is dripping on to the manifold.

I would appreciate anyone's thoughts or advice.

    Thanks,

I was gonna say your guibo, but that would really only cause a problem when accelerating.

Double check that the CSB is doing what it should be, and if it still is the driveshaft was balanced improperly.

Unless you missed a nut or bolt somewhere on the driveshaft?

My CSB came loose while driving and it was an obvious clunking noise as the driveshaft pounded itself into my floorpan. Not at any particular speed, but all the time.

    driveshaft vibration

I just had myy driveshaft rebuilt and ballanced after installing I now get a vibration at 70 mph which I didn't before. I preloaded the csb. is it possible for that to cause a vibration? or was it just not balanced correctly.
Working...
