    Used driveshaft

Since I've got two bad u-joints, I definitely need a new driveshaft. I've been trying to find a used one, but I've run into one problem: nobody seems to know for sure which driveshafts are compatible with the '86 325es. I've heard that the 325i driveshaft is incompatible from some people, and I've heard that it's compatible from others. Does anyone know for sure which driveshafts will fit my es without having to replace / modify everything else?

From what I understand, the difference is the size of the output flange. I think that any eta shaft should work, but what I know is all secondhand. At any rate, es/e seem to be exchangeable as I put an es shaft in my e.

I agree. I'm pretty sure any e shaft should work. I've got and e and a junked es and the driveshafts look the same. Getting ready to do a swap this weekend. Get any e driveshaft. If you have doubts check the production date of the junker you're getting ready to get the shaft out of and check the driveshaft with your current driveshaft on realoem
West German BMWs, they just don't make the same as they did before the wall fell.
^Case in point: Auto-Repair Technology. Everytime my car isn't starting or acting up I let it sit, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for days. But it eventually fixes itself.

I was told that there was a date cutoff that was the deciding factor. I bought one (marked and balanced) as a spare in case mine was shot when I went to do a new CSB install. I don't know what the date IS, but I was told that that was the determining factor.

I did not need my spare, and I have it, boxed up and ready to ship, if you are interested.

The other thing that I was told was that swapping the guibo would be all that was needed to swap one for the other. I know that the differential ends are the same with either type.
