I'm doing it right now. No special tools needed other than circlip pliers. This project has been a bear though- working under the car completely on jackstands and trying to break decade+ old bolts with hand tools is really not fun. My center driveshaft clamp took a plumber's wrench and just about the full force of my leg to break free. Seriously not a fun project, but totally doable. I'd recommend compressed air tools.

In almost all cases, a failure of the center support bearing will be due to binding u-joints in the drive shaft. Replacing only the CSB is possible, but the replacement will have a short life until the drive shaft is replaced. A reman drive shaft will come with the CSB installed.

dropping the exhaust is the hardest part of doing this, i would suggest presoaking the header nuts with liquid wrench or wd40 for a day or two before diving in on this. Listen to Jlevie get a remanufactured DS, I did only the CSB and I can still feel a vibration coming from there, the u joints were stiff lol i thought it was a good thing.

                A press works best.

What's the proper method for preloading the csb?

hammerd the bastard out then pushed the new csb in with the other half of the driveshaft, worked lime a charm.... put everything together and the car is smooth as silk... besides the fact I need shocks. :)

thanks again for all the help
