    Gearing Chart

Put this little chart together to explain the differences in a 4.10 versus 3.73 to my brother in law. Thought I would share with everyone. Enjoy! Note: transmission gear ratios were gotten off of wiki. If they are incorrect please let me know and I can change them. Also, if anyone likes this chart and would like more stuff like this regarding springs, dampers, geometry etc please let me know and I should be able to put something together.

    Right, can't post excel spreadsheets....

Ok, nevermind I guess. If any forum moderators are interested in seeing this spreadsheet then please drop me a line and I can send it to you.

      heres the difference:

Hmm, I wonder if plain text comes out in a readable format:

        Ratios 1/2/3/4/5/R
        3.83 / 2.20 / 1.40 / 1.00 / 0.81 / 3.71

        Gear Ratio 4.10 3.73 2.93
        1 3.81 15.62 14.21 11.16
        2 2.20 9.02 8.21 6.45
        3 1.40 5.74 5.22 4.10
        4 1.00 4.10 3.73 2.93
        5 0.81 3.32 3.02 2.37

:p seriously? I think the 3.73 is pretty short... first and second go by almost too fast with the stock M50 and lightened flywheel. If we could make first, second and fifth in the G260 taller I think a 3.73 would be just about perfect.

That said I think 3rd is a bit tall for how short second is. When I extend the rev limiter the 2-3 shift probably won't pull it out of the powerband as much.

your rev limiter is too low ;)

By chart I meant a speed versus RPM chart. Its an easy way of finding out which gear to use at the track. If you know what corner speeds you will be seeing at a certain track you can use the chart to figure out what gear to use so that you are in the power band of a certain gear at the speed. All the numbers are changeable so feel free to mess with it and put whatever you want in. Nando, PM sent.

Well I made a picture of what I mean. You obviously can't modify the numbers at all but this is a 4.1 (blue) and 3.73 (red).

Of course this is assuming you aren't spinning your tires! =D
