    is a 2.29 rear diff lsd???

    i have a 2.79 rear diff and was wondering if it was a LSD diff or not... anyone know???

      r3v to redline and drop the clutch.

      1 black line = no lsd
      2 black lines = lsd
      AWD > RWD

          2.79 were made in LSD configs.

            I think I read they were for '84.

            You could jack up one rear tire and try to spin it by hand, if it spins it isn't.

                if you jack the rear end up at the diff, just spin one wheel forward. if the other wheel spins backwards it's an open diff.

                also from what I remember, with an open diff you won't hear the inside wheel grabbing for traction on tight turns when taking off.

                  why not just check for the tag on the housing, an "s" on the tag with the ratio would denote LSD, iirc

                        i confirmed mine to be an LSD this way.. i couldnt read the tag.. ahaha

                            S on the tag just means that the tag was originally on an LSD. if he bought it used, anything is possible. just sayin'.
