an inch and click before clutch engages?

I remember the clutch always having an inch or so before the resistance from the clutch. Now that i have replaced the Master and Slave Cylinders it has that same distance (which is annoying but livable) but it clicks and drives me crazy. Everything is tight and it looks like its coming from that spring where the pedal pivots. Anyway to fix this?

i bled the clutch (not properly, but it worked). i think the spring is pushing the piston out further than normal, but i guess i can try bleeding it again correctly. does the spring adjust somehow?
