Drive axle "end cap" come off?

I got new axles, but the caps on the end of the axles are not the correct shape so they don't fit into the flange.

Can I swap the caps? I tried to pry the old one off a bit, but it doesn't seem like it wants to come apart.

It looks to me like the caps aren't fully seated. You can tap them into place. Once installed the caps will be held in place by the drive flange and bolts/plates. So it is no big deal.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Yea, but I'm talking about the "cone" area being too big and/or the right shape to allow the axle to seat into the rear diff flange and bolt up.

If the inner cap won't fit into the differential flange, you don't have the right half shafts. I'd return them and get the correct parts..
