    Transmission mounts

SO after having my Flex disc blow out on me... i got a replacement and Im back on the road.. just to realize 2 days later that my transmission mounts, well One at least have broken... err actually ripped in half to be specific.

Anywhay... Before I noticed the broken transmission mount, my car had been slipping (clutch) idling funny/shakey... It wouldn't slip on take off only from 1-2 gear shifts during hard acceleration.. only recently when decided to do a burn out did it slip very badly in 1st... after that I drove it home jacked it up and found the broken mount..

    Now I want to ask...
The broken mount would lead to my clutch slipping right?
Could the broken mount also cause a wierd/rough idle..?
my car shut off a couple times right after starting it up in the Morning.

    Thanks for any info Holmes!

A broken mount wouldn't cause the clutch to slip. How old is the clutch disk? How many burn-outs does it have on it?

A common cause of a broken transmission mount is installing the transmission support bracket backwards. For some reason it just *looks* as if it should go back on the wrong way. Swap right for left and see if it fits better. And consider yourself fortunate to have not broken mounting ear on the transmission case -- that's a much more expensive failure.

Im thinking the shop i had work on my trans fukd shit up! broken mount/ tore up Flex Disc/ slipping clutch... I found oil leakage on the bottem of my case... thinking this could be a culprit. For what its worth... I did not have my flywheel resurfaced...

The transmission shop had my car for about a month, rebuilt my trans from two trannies that i had, one was the original trans that went out 1.5 years ago and the second wasn't in as good condition as it was said so when i bought from a member here on R3v...

they took a look at both transmissions decided to make one good from the two and replace parts along the way... so i paid in full the next day and after having the car back 3 times over the month, the end result was that the gears would grind in 4th.... so i was like this is no rebuild... fix it I have a 4 month warranty!!!

so they "tried" to get it right but 3-4 days after I get my car back and they tell me that i will be getting a full refund.... Happy I was at the time...

now 2-3 weeks later i have a transmission that seems to be leaking (which it wasn't before), a slipping clutch that was brand new when installed into the so called rebuilt transmission, a broken flex disc (which was probably put on wrong), and a broken trans mount (which was for sure from them putting the brace on backwards).

Im back on the road because i got the flex disc and mounts replaced, but Im going to need to drop the transmission in order to see why my brand new clutch is slipping.

If they didn't seal the transmission properly (input shaft), it is possible that the fluid is leaking into the clutch area and making it feel like the clutch is slipping...well it would be slipping if this happens.
