Anyone bent shift fork?

I have an issue going into gears at certain RPM's (much like clutch-less shifting) and first thought it might be the slave, master etc etc everything checked out. Rebuilt everything in my shop up to spec, tightened up the shift linkage etc thinking maybe that was the problem, but...


the weird thing is now that everything is new and tight here's the situation.

At a stop light in neutral, depress clutch to go into 1st and the car starts rolling forward a little and it's hard to get in gear as if the clutch isn't all the way down. Could this be a result of bent/misaligned shift fork?

That is a sign that the clutch isn't fully disengaging. It could be a problem with the clutch hydraulics or it could be a problem inside of the bell housing.

Start with the hydraulics. If there's no leak at the slave and lines and bleeding doesn't help, replace the master cylinder. If that doesn't help you'll have to pull the transmission and see what is wrong. A bent fork or a broken pivot is a possibility, but it could be a problem with the pressure plate of clutch disc.

Could this also be the transmission itself getting worn out?

I have a spare of everything. Just wondering if anyone else has come across something like this in case I have missed something before pulling the transmission. I am waiting for a rear main seal so that I can fix the one last oil leak at the rear of the crank. You would think motor oil in the bellhousing would help the clutch slip haha.

The pivot appears to be still intact via the spring clips, but who knows what it looks like inside.

Could be, but the Getrag is supposed to be more stout. Car has less than 100k miles, the odometer stopped counting last summer at 82k, and it stays local.

Could the one rubber line be expanding? Maybe change that too while it's on the lift?

I noticed this same problem when I put in a clutch stop. It slowly got worse. Turned out to be a leaking slave cyl.

Air in the system, then slave and/or master cylinder are where I would focus before pulling the trans out (again).

Yay....sort of. Better than blowed up trans.

Plus, having a solution to a weird/elusive problem is always a relief.
