alright so,
I am trying to mate my dogleg trans (Getrag 245/11 i think, has M60 marked on the case) with my m20. I am using a clutch which is made for the G260. Doing some cross referencing shows that all of the clutch components except the TOB in some cases are the same P/N for a early euro 323i and a late model 325i. Right now what im hoping to do is
a) get advice from someone who has done this trans swap
b) get a measurement from the inside of the bellhousing of a G260
-When i try to mate the trans to the engine i am left with about a half inch gap btw bellhousing and engine. The clutch is aligned perfectly, my tool slips and slides in and out with the lightest touch, there is nothing in the way either. What im thinking is that eithere the TOB sticks out too far (thus the diff P/N found sometimes for the 323i) or the input shaft tube is longer on the dogleg and thus is hitting the hub of the clutch.
So
a) if anyone knows anything about the components i should be using to mate these two together please let me know.
b) if someone could please take a couple measurements of the input shaft tube. Id like to get 3
1) the overall length of the tube from where in meets with the Trans case to where the shaft comes out of it.
2) from the surface where the pivot arm clips on to where the shaft comes out of the tube.
3) from the mounting surface on the bellhousing to where the shaft comes out of the tube.
Thank you much
