Rubbing Issues, Short shifter installed!

I just installed a z4 short shifter and new bushings from Mr. Blunt. I bent the selector rod as needed and it still rubs slightly on the metal "balancer" (whatever you want to call it). I can either keep bending the selector rod or can i just remove the metal thing? I want to also upgrade the selector rod to the AKG one but i cannot bend that one. Opinions please.

Also z4 shifter feels awesome, it is really notchy and much shorter then the previous slop oem one i had before. I would recommend it to anyone, Also didnt have to remove the driveshaft in the process :D Thanks Blunt!

Remove the driveshaft. Now remove the balancer. Rubbing fixed


Some e30s didnt even have this balancer, from the factory. Mine felt fine after I took it off, I didnt notice any vibrations etc

On my old 325i with a z4 shifter I just bent the rod all the way until it clears. Removing the balancer is a pain in comparison. But you can remove it, it isn't really necessary.

Remove the balancer. I've never had one in both E30s I've owned. First car didn't have one at all. Second car had one, removed it when I replaced the driveshaft, saw or noticed no difference at all. Just another example of how over-engineered the E30 was.

z4 shifter sucked i bought my car with it. when i had my stock engine /trans i just put the stock shifter back in. now i have s50 with zf and a b&m short shifter. It feels awesome.. i think theres a kit for stock e30s?

I had this problem...On my car, it came with the driveshaft balancer...i took it off..didn't feel a difference at all. You dont need it, as long as your driveshaft isnt fucked up
