    That stuff is all crap.

I have the Z4 2.5 SSK and I didn't have to bend a thing, that's why I got this one

$60 at BMA, can't go wrong. I love it.

You do have to bend the shaft on vehicles with the vibration dampners. This is almost exclusive to 87-88 vehicles (IIRC). On other vehicles i'd suggest bending it so that it sits straight in you console and not kinked forward.

I didn't actually bend the shifter rod but the selector rod (maybe i have these two confused- but it is the one that is shaped like this |_______| and links your shifter to your transmission] Just two sockets and a hammer did the trick nicely.

Don't get the ebay garbage. Once you add the price of shipping it is almost as much as buying a lever from BMA. Plus, you won't know how much shorter it will be or anything else.
Just buy a Z3/Z4 shift lever. It is only about $45 shipped for just the lever. If you get all of the bushings (highly recommended) it is only about $60 shipped.

There is a FAQ thread on Short Shifters... Here

I know it is long... But you can do it...

BTW I have the Z3 short shifter kit from BMA ($60) and I love it.

seems to me the easy fix was to simply remove the vibration damper, since it does absolutely nothing.
